What are the precautions for using a vacuum drying oven in the laboratory?

When operating a vacuum drying oven in the laboratory, several precautions must be observed to guarantee safety, accuracy, and reproducibility. 

First, always inspect the vacuum drying oven for cracks in the chamber seal or damage to the viewing window; a compromised seal will prevent the vacuum drying oven from reaching its target pressure and may allow ambient moisture to re-enter. 

Second, load samples into heat-resistant, low-outgassing trays, and never exceed the specified volume, because overcrowding the vacuum drying oven impedes both heat transfer and pressure reduction.  

Third, connect the Zhengzhou Elab  vacuum drying oven only to a pump rated for the required ultimate vacuum, and install an in-line cold trap or desiccant cartridge to protect the pump from corrosive vapors. Before starting the run, slowly evacuate the chamber to avoid violent boiling and sample loss; once the set point is reached, monitor the vacuum drying oven continuously for the first 30 minutes to confirm stable pressure and temperature.  

Fourth, always wear thermal gloves and safety glasses when opening the vacuum drying oven after a cycle: rapid re-pressurization can eject hot fragments. Finally, log every batch in the laboratory notebook, noting pressure, temperature, time, and any anomalies, so that the vacuum drying oven’s performance history is traceable for audits or troubleshooting.
